The Norwalk Fire Department responded to the fire around 11:22 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, at 15 Cutrone Road, said Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Edward Prescott.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they could see flames coming from two windows of a second-floor bedroom of the Cape Cod-style home, Prescott said.
The fire was quickly knocked down within 10 minutes of arrival, but crews remained on scene extinguishing hot spots and overhauling a cluttered dormered bedroom and storage area, the chief said.
Three adult owner/occupants were home at the time of the fire and were able to leave the home prior to the fire department's arrival.
The home was posted unfit and the occupants were staying with other family members, Prescott added.
Fire Inspector Luca Feola is investigating the cause of the fire.
Three engines, two trucks a rescue and command Car responded to the scene.
